Help me, 83 Hunter 31. Due to an inexcusable, stress induced, brain cramp, 2 to 3 gallons of diesel fuel were very carefully poured down the water fill. Is the fix DIY or call a pro? Suggestions? Anybody else willing to own up to this bad a cerebral malfunction?

If you haven't done so already, get the diesel out of the tank; the
longer it sits (assuming you have plastic tanks), the more likely
odors will premeate the plastic. I don't see why you can't just run it
through the system and capture it in a bucket. A lot of marinas have
disposal tanks for old oil and diesel (but not gasoline).

Keep running water through the tank to eliminate the odor. I'm trying
to find a claim that matches your situation to see what else can be
done.

Don't beat yourself up over the mistake; it happens all the time.
