To my understanding the Merc. 150 has been the staple and workhorse of the seas for some time. I have a 2000 carbuerated 150hp on my 20'6" dual console and it has been just super. Might be just peculiar to your engine. Sometimes things slip by on the assembly line, don't give up hope!
