I have a 2004 3200 Center Console with twin Yamaha 300HPDI.  I was told by a Yamaha service technician that the 2004 300HPDI had some water intrusion issues from its cowling design that was systemic to the design of the transoms of the 3200 CC & WA.  This can be corrected by the installation of a Yahmaha intrusion kit but this is major work.  If you have had performance issues with the 300HPDI, it can be tested for water intrusion to determine if this is the cause.  This issue does not appear in all engines because it is the design of the boat transom that causes the intrusion.  I thought I had this issue and brought my boat to a dealer who tested the engines and told me they were OK.  Unfortunately, when this first appeared in the new 300HPDI's,  Yahmaha did not due a recall or announcement to new boat owners but rather handled it as each case arose.  I did speak to Yamaha after my engines were off warranty and it appeared that they would extend the warranty if i had this problem.
