I have a 2005 Doral Monticello. Upon commissioning this spring, I noticed an ugly brown stain in the area where the waste tank empties (where ABS elbow connects to tank). The tank was pumped out in the fall and antifreeze pumped through the system. However I did not look into the engine compartment after winterization so I don't know when the leak ocurred.
I brought the boat to the dealer who had it over a month and, despite their new service manager claiming the boat was ready, found that the leak had not been addressed. Their last minute attempt to fix it was applying a glob of 3M 5200 sealant which did nothing but make a mess (I found out later that it is not meant for use on plastic). Upon closer inspection the following day, I found that ABS elbow can be hand turned. Needless to say, the head has been off limits.
Does anyone know if the elbow is supposed to be glued in (as in house plumbing using ABS), or might it not be screwed in sufficiently (it's threaded).
Doral has been very helpful but there are no dealers in my immediate area (the purchasing dealer was the closest at 150 miles and I'm not going back), so I am thinking of making repairs myself. Anyone out there have a similar problem?
