Hi, I am the proud owner of a BayRunner 220. Purchased in 2004. It is powered by a Mercury 150 XR6, 2-stroke, carbuerated. I am running a 15 1/4 X 17P SS prop, and get 5500 rpm at WOT. The rig performs well. My question is: I was expecting to get 3 mpg while at cruise rpm (between 3000 and 4000). I am actually getting 1.75 - 2.0 I would like to be able to get 3 mpg, using existing motor. I use the boat only for fishing and cover up to 60 miles on any given day in the inshore Gulf of Mexico. Any suggestions on improving 'mpg' would be appreciated.
