I feel great in the morning and am out of bed and showered before Terri. She reminds me that I want to climb the mast today. I head up for coffee while she gets up. The day is hot and the sun is almost too much even this early. I will use lots of sun screen today. Terri is very red from our day on the beach yesterday but I put aloe on her last night and she says it doesn't hurt this morning.
After breakfast we gather with others who want to climb. I am the 4th one up and so have had the advantage of seeing how it is done. After I put on a harness I am hooked to a safety line and up I go. It i...... Read More

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR CRUISING
From Cory:
I was just curious about any rules there are when boating overseas from Canada? Can you please tell me what I would have to do to travel from Canada like you. I notice you have been gone since 1994. Wow, wish it was me. Here in Winnipeg it was -50 yesterday and I'm fed up with winter. I have never owned a boat but I want to buy one and travel to Hawaii or somewhere warm. Please e-mail me and let me know of some hope, please.
Hi Cory,
Yes, there's hope. Just about anyone can get a boat and sail away if they have the desire. What it takes is a bi...... Read More

Monday – Virgin Gorda
We got up at 7:30am since Todd wanted to climb the mast at 9:30 and we wanted to make sure we didn’t miss breakfast this morning. The boat had stopped rocking by the time we got up. Once again they had plenty of food. Unlike dinner, Breakfast and Lunch are buffet style.

Our dinner companions tonight are two couples from England. We talk about places we've been and the things we've seen.
I had volunteered to help in a shipboard fashion show later on in the evening and Terri mentions this. There is lots of good natured kidding about me having to wear a thong for the crowd. Dinner ends just in time for me to visit the Pursers Office and collect the clothes I am to model. ... Read More

I slept later than Terri and awoke to the soft clicking of her typing on the laptop. This is essential traveling gear and has accompanied us on all our vacations. It has come in handy for downloading the day’s pictures in Yellowstone or even retrieving notes for an impromptu speech I had give in Japan. Now she is saving notes she will turn into a blog.
By the time we leave our cabin we are too late for breakfast. I go off to find us snorkeling gear while Terri finds the Hotel Manager to book the library for a BoatUS members get together she has planned. There are several members abo...... Read More

Internet Access In Third World Countries
Bob C from Paso Robles, California, asks "how do you log onto the internet in remote places?"

From Douglas: Today, even the smallest burgs in the most out of the way places tend to have internet cafés. Prices range from $3 to $10 an hour. Phone lines can be troublesome and transmission speed tends to be slow, but in the fullness of time, messages get in and out.
NOTE: Since that response was written, we've gotten ...... Read More
