On Saturday September 24th the Kiwanis and Optimist along with Georgia DNR, Johnsonville, Riverkeepers, Nothin but Fish, Bass Pro, Rainbow Ranch, Trout Unlimited and The Wild Turkey Federation sponsored a Kids Fishing Day at Buford Dam Park. This is one way to “get kids fishing”. DNR stocked 2500 trout with the help of the kids prior to breaking out the rods and reels. I must admit that I have as much fun at these events as the “younger“ kids do. This is my 7th year of being involved and just like the kids…I got hooked.

My favorite thing to do is wear my wa...... Read More

Wow what a fishery we have in the NE….and Boston is no exception. If you ask guys where to go for true trophy stripers you’ll get answers like Cape Cod Canal, Montauk, Block Island, Virginia Beach, Oregon Inlet and others certainly make many anglers' lists. While I have certainly fished in Boston, I would never have considered having Boston on my list. Not anymore….Boston is right up there with the others and I’m certain the opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime in Boston is a very real probability.

As the 2011 boating and fishing season gets in full swing and my travels take me all over the country I am reminded of several things....first, just how important it is to have great insurance and on the water/road support.
As I pull my boat 1000's of miles to do on the water demos I constantly pass boats sitting on the side of the road with a bad bearing, flat tire, etc. and no tow vehicle to be seen. If these boaters would only discover BoatUS ANGLER and the incredible services they bring to the boating community, they would see that there is no need to abandon the boat and trailer...ever! ...... Those that know me know just how passionate I am about fishing and the conservation of our natural resources. This past week I had the opportunity to experience firsthand the results of a fishing organizations (Tennessee Striped Bass Assoc) efforts to support and conserve their fishery. They had invited me to come speak about electronics and how using electronics effectively could lead to increased catches. That task was easy because it is a lifestyle for me. What became apparent during my "research", (remember my research is fishing), was all the efforts that go on behind the scenes ...... Read More

I have been out on the lake a great deal at night chasing the elusive striped bass under the light of a beautiful moon and it has been pretty productive. This is the month that things really start to wake up for fishing as the water warms back into the 50's and beyond. Last Friday night, I was amazed to find crazy boat traffic on the water not just prior to, but after dark.
The most alarming thing I witnessed were jet skiers and water skiers running at night. This is crazy dangerous for a number of reasons and illegal too. I even saw what must have been a 40'+ cruiser running full speed withou...... Read More

My mother always said, “Bill would rather fish than eat”, and she was correct. Fishing is the greatest sport on earth. Having loved to fish from the day I learned to walk, fishing has always been a part of my life.
In the early years of my career I was into marketing, advertising and sales. The last of these “early” years afforded me the opportunity to fish way more than the average person but I was not in “the fishing business”. The decision was made that once my youngest went away to college I would sell my business and make fishing my “full time&rd...... Read More

I was out on the pond for a couple of hours today looking for fish and a pattern for a couple of upcoming trips. One glance at the water temps and I was reminded of the importance of wearing a PFD. If the temps are 47 way down in the Atlanta area then I can only imagine what they are to the north….wear the PFD - the life it saves could very well be yours.
Now for the fishing stuff…<”)))><

When the water gets this cold the bait fish have a real hard time staying alive so watch the temp data from the electronics and focus on windblown with sun shoreline. Today t...... Read More
