Your dream boat is on display nearby. And all around are folks who share your passion for getting out on the water. Every year, boaters from around the nation and beyond come to Annapolis to be part of the largest and oldest in-water boat shows in the country.

A Special Place, A Special Time: The Annapolis Boat Shows

Autumn, especially the month of October, has always been a special time on Chesapeake Bay. Cool, crisp nights are followed by warm, sunny days. Gone is summer’s enervating heat, haze and humidity, replaced by blue skies filled with skeins of honking Canada geese on their annual southerly migration. In 1970 something new was added to this special season; the Annual Annapolis Boat Shows.

BUILDING THE ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOWS
Each October, for 40 years, the United States Sailboat Show (October 8-12, 2009) and the United States Powerboat Show (October 15-18, 2009) take over the docks and harbor of the colonial seaport of Annapolis. These two events, the oldest and largest in-water shows in the industry, are the only major boat shows not produced in an existing marina. Playing host to more than 250 sailboats, over 450 powerboats and hundreds of land exhibitors requires the construction of a temporary facility of stupendous proportions.
