Radar Target Ops Near Solomons:
Mariners are advised that a series of on-water radar sensing operations are scheduled to occur in the Chesapeake Bay during 10-13 Sep, 19-21 Sep and 26-28 Sep 2012. The dynamic tests will occur in an area south (approx. 38.271433° -76.340163°) of Solomons, MD and will involve using surface vessels (a moving platform and moving targets) to test an automated detection and reaction system. The target vessels used in the test may be small, low-profile watercraft. Operations will be based out of Solomons, MD. ATLANTIC COAST FROM MAINE TO FLORIDA:
The U. S. Coast Guard is making available an interim report issued by the Atlantic Coast Port Access Route Study (ACPARS) workgroup. The interim report provides status of the workgroup efforts and the remaining requirements to complete the study. The Coast Guard welcomes comments on the interim report or submission of additional information for consideration by the workgroup. Special Anchorage Stockton Springs, Maine:
The Coast Guard proposes to establish a special anchorage area in Stockton Springs (44.469973°-68.862590°), Maine. Sunken Sailing Vessel, Frenchmans Bay, Maine:
A 24' sailing vessel has been reported sunk in General Anchorage B in position 44-24.3'N, 068-12.8'W. Mariners are advised to use caution when transiting this area. (First District LNM 37)
RNA for Waldo-Hancock Bridge Demolition:
The Coast Guard has established a regulated navigation area 300 yards to the north and south of the Waldo-Hancock Bridge demolition zone between Prospect and Verona. This area encompasses a 300 yard radius around position 44°33’38”N, 068°48’05”W. All mariners are required to transit the area at no wake speed, not to exceed 5 knots. Mariners are also advised to exercise caution as barges and construction equipment may present. This regulated navigation area is in effect until June 30, 2013. (First District LNM 36)
Navy Testing Offshore Boston Harbor:
Offshore testing for the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory will be done, a few miles off the coast of Boston Harbor, from September 16 - October 6, 2012 This testing will require placing 24 items on the sea floor. These items are cement cylinders and weigh approximately 2500 lbs. All of the objects will be placed on the sea floor within a 1 square kilometer area. The 4 corners of this square kilometer are as follows:

Boston Light Nominal Range Reduced:
The Coast Guard will be making the following changes to this waterway on or about 1 September 2012 thru 15 October 2012: CHANGE Boston Light (LLNR 425) (42-19-40.855N, 070-53-24.266W) nominal range from 27nm to 12nm due to maintenance. (First District LNM 30) Note: This is a 15 nm difference, which is very significant.
New Bedford Hurricane Barrier Work:
Maintenance and repairs at the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier (41.623313° -70.906478°) are being done to approximately Thursday, December 20th. The hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. One work barge is located on the west side of the hurricane barrier in approx 60 ft of the channel. Mariners may encounter minor delays while transiting through the bridge and are urged to exercise extreme caution while transiting the area. RNA Proposed for New London Harbor:
The Coast Guard proposes to establish a regulated navigation area (RNA) on the navigable waters of the Thames River in New London Harbor (41.349569° -72.090340°), New London, CT. Comments and related material must be received by the Coast Guard on or before October 5, 2012. Electrical Cables Relocated, Long Island:
The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) will be relocating two transmission cables 300 feet to the north between Glenwood Landing and Bar Beach (40.828681°-73.654318°) from Sep 10-31, 2012. Work hours are 0600-2100 seven days per week. The Bar Beach boat ramp is closed during these dates/times. Small boats under 25’ in length will be on site and safety buoys will be deployed during these work hours. For additional information contact LIPA at 1-800-490-0025. (First District LNM 36)
Permanent Security Zone Proposed for UN:
The Coast Guard proposes to establish a permanent security zone on the waters of the East River (40.748478° -73.966393°) and Bronx Kill, in the vicinity of Randalls and Wards Islands, New York; revise the description of the Wall Street Heliport security zone on the East River, New York; and clarify the enforcement times and locations of the security zones that are located near the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan, New York, as set forth in 33 CFR 165.164(a)(4) and (a)(5). This action is necessary to protect visiting dignitaries and the Port of New York/New Jersey against terrorism, sabotage or other subversive acts and incidents of a similar nature during the dignitaries' visit to New York City. The zones are intended to restrict vessels from a portion of the East River and Bronx Kill when public officials are scheduled to arrive and depart the area. Persons or vessels would not be allowed to enter these security zones without permission from the Captain of the Port New York (COTP) or the COTP's designated on-scene representative. FDR Drive Shoreline Repairs:
Piling repairs to the FDR Drive (40.746864° -73.967387°) will be conducted between East 38th and 42nd Streets through Nov 28, 2012. Work hours are Mon-Fri, 0600-1800. The Mia Forte (265’x55’ crane barge), Hughes 795 (100’x50’ deck barge), and four hopper barges with a beam up to 50 feet will be on scene. The vessels will extend about 40 yards from the Manhattan shoreline. No vessels are authorized on site during the United Nations General Assembly. (First District LNM 35)
Holland Tunnel Work:
Rehabilitation to the Holland Tunnel (40.725550° -74.012571°) will be done from August 27 - December 31, 2012. The work will be done on the North side of Pier 9 on the East end of the tunnel. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. On scene are 2 barges, the BILL & AF MARRESSE. (First District LNM 34)
Hudson River Survey:
A geophysical/hydrographic remote sensing survey of the East River (they apparently meant Hudson River), working North from Harlem River (40.878724° -73.929355°) to Albany (42.646350° -73.745210°), is being done until approximately October 30, 2012. A secondary vessel will operate in tandem working South from Lake Champlain to Albany. The hours of operation are 7 days a week during daylight hours. On scene is the R/V SEA RAIDER & ABLE II that are monitoring VHF-FM channels 13 & 16. (First District LNM 37)
Hudson River Sediment Sampling:
Alpine Ocean will be taking over 45 sediment samples close to the center of the channel in the Hudson River between Athens (42.257994° -73.806410°) and Verplanck, NY (41.252149° -73.972555°) from Sep 17 – Oct 15, 2012. Work hours are 0700-1900 seven days per week. Each sample will be taken from the SAMANTHA MILLER (65’ x 25’). Each sample is expected to take one hour to complete. The vessel can move within 30 minutes to not impede commercial navigation with notice via CH 13. No sampling will be authorized if visibility is less than one nautical mile. Alpine Ocean's point of contact is Mr. Chuck Dill at 201.988.0611 or the SAMANTHA MILLER on VHF CH 13. The SAMANTHA MILLER will issue a local security broadcast before beginning each sample. Newark Bay Sediment Sampling:
Aqua Survey will be taking sediment samples in the Kill Van Kull (40.644000° -74.120000°) , Newark Bay, and Anchorage Channel, from Sep 10-24, 2012. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 0700-1800. Each test sample will be taken from the R/V RARITAN (24’ x 8’). Each sample is expected to take ten minutes to complete. The vessel can move within ten minutes to not impede commercial navigation with notice via CH 13. The R/V RARITAN will notify Vessel Traffic Service New York (VTSNY) on VHF CH 14 fifteen minutes prior to starting each sample and upon completion of each sample. USCG Fifth District
Coastal Waters from Shrewsbury River, New Jersey to Little River, South Carolina
Shark River RR Bridge Repairs:
Mariners are advised that New Jersey Transit Rail Operations will be conducting emergency structural repairs and only open on the hour at the Shark River Railroad Bridge (South Channel), at mile 0.9, between Belmar and Avon NJ, from 10 p.m. September 21 to 6 a.m. September 24, 2012 and from 10 p.m. September 28 to 6 a.m. October 1, 2012. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating drawbridge regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.751. Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly. (5th District LNM 37)
Delaware River Dredging:
Mariners are advised that remediation dredging continues in the back channel of Newbold Island (40.124088° -74.769281°) for the Roebling Steel superfund site. A combination of floats and barges will be used to facilitate removal of contaminated soil as well as containment to ensure debris is not allowed into the Delaware River. Recreational boaters are advised to adjust their transit routes in this area to avoid the remediation work. (5th District LNM 37)
Dredging operations for the Delaware River Main Channel commencing at the Eagle Point Range (39.880255° -75.174627°) and continuing down river will be conducted from 10 September until 10 December, 2012. Dredging equipment will be located within the main channel and a submerged pipeline will run to the National Park Disposal Area. The Dredge ILLINOIS and assisting vessels may be contacted on VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. It is requested that vessels contact the dredge 30 minutes prior to time of passage. A NO WAKE transit is requested. (5th District LNM 37)
Mobilization for the Delaware Main Channel deepening project will place dredging support equipment anchored in the Horseshoe Shoal (39.886067° -75.144572°) area. The anchored equipment will include dredge, derricks and tugs. Dredging will commence on 07 September, 2012 on the Tinicum Range. The dredge and assisting vessels may be contacted on VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. A NO WAKE transit is requested. (5th District LNM 37)
Delaware Fishing Pier Demolition:
Mariners are advised that the fishing pier in Breakwater Harbor (38.793767° -75.137256°) will be partially demolished starting on or about September 4, 2012 and continuing until 31 October, 2012. Existing aids on pier will be removed. Following completion of project, aids will be reestablished on new timber support piles to mark remaining structure. (5th District LNM 36)
Kent Narrows Bridge Inspection:
Mariners are advised that Northeast Engineering Inc, on behalf of Maryland State Highway Administration, will be performing underwater inspections at the US 50/301 Bridge across Kent Island Narrows (38.970455° -76.247430°), mile 1.0, between Chester and Grasonville, MD. The inspections will be performed each day, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on September 1, 2012 through November 30, 2012. Inspection personnel, equipment, and a 25’ safety boat will be in proximity to the navigable channel, do not anticipate any disruption to marine traffic and will relocate upon request for passage from any waterborne vessels. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 35)
Little Choptank Aquaculture Area:
On or about 10, September, 2012, the following warning daybeacons wil be established to mark an aquaculture lease area in Parkers Creek. Dayboards are white with a red diamond symbol.
A. Little Choptank River-Parkers Creek Warning Daybeacon A (no LLNR) at 38 34 00.3N, 076 13 10.2W. NW on pile.
B. Little Choptank River-Parkers Creek Warning Daybeacon B (no LLNR) at 38 34 05.1N, 076 13 11.3W. NW on pile.
C. Little Choptank River-Parkers Creek Warning Daybeacon C (no LLNR) at 38 34 12.2N, 076 13 10.9W. NW on pile. (5th District LNM 37)
Upper Potomac River Marine Construction:
Mariners are advised that marine construction operations are scheduled to occur on the Potomac River from August 13, 2012 until on or about November 16, 2012. The work is located along the western shore of the Upper Potomac River, at the Ronald Reagan-Washington National Airport in Washington, DC. Two materials barges and two crane barges will be on site, in approximate position 38° 51’ 07.2’ N, 077° 01’ 52.5’ W. All equipment will be marked and lighted in accordance with USCG regulations. Interested mariners may contact the Edwin A. and John O. Crandell, Inc. personnel on scene via marine band radio VHF-FM channels 13, 16 and 8 or at telephone number (410) 991-2376. DC Bridge Work:
Mariners are advised that work will commence for bridge concrete and steel repairs at the Arlington Memorial Bridge (38.887462° -77.055145°) across Potomac River, at mile 110 in Washington, DC. A spudded lighted construction barge will be working in and around the navigable channel during work hours and be moved out of the channel during non working hours from September 10, 2012 through December 15, 2012. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 37)
Piankatank River Channel Closed for Bridge Fender Repairs:
Crofton Diving Corporation will be conducting Fender System repairs for V.D.O.T. at the Route 3 Bridge (37.507136° -76.421223°), between: Middlesex County and Mathews County over the Piankatank River. Beginning August 29 and continuing for approximately 4 months, or until completed, the above listed channel will be closed to boat traffic. The fender replacement operations call for 2 barges to be placed in the channel 7 days a week, until complete. The work will be utilizing commercial divers, and general marine construction. Barges and vessels will be moored side by side in the channel on site with divers working over the side. The construction equipment will be confined to the barges, with small crew boats working in the vicinity. Commercial and recreational vessels are requested to proceed in this area with caution and at no wake speed. Crews will be monitoring VHF Channels 13 & 16. (5th District LNM 36)
York River Power Project Buoys:
Corman Marine Construction, Inc. will establish two additional two (2) mooring buoys and extend the disestablishment date until January 1, 2013. The four mooring buoys are in association with the York River-Dominion Power Project. The buoys will have a flashing 4 second white LED light, when no vessel is moored to them.

B. CMC-York River Mooring Buoy B (no LLNR) at 37 14 38.0N, 076 26 30.0W. White with blue band.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel North Channel Bridge:
Precon Marine, Inc. will be conducting replacement of the fender system on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel North Channel (37.076364° -76.014265°) commencing August 20, 2012 with a completion date of approximately January 31, 2013. The crane barge JMC-120 and KS-1355 and tug Dotti J will be on site and monitoring VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. (5th District LNM 32)
Mariners are advised that bridge maintenance work (cleaning, painting and steel repairs) continues at the US 13/North Channel Bridges over Chesapeake Bay of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel, between Cape Charles and Virginia Beach, VA. The maintenance work has shifted to the southbound bridge section. To facilitate the work, the available vertical clearances for the underside at Spans 1-8, Spans 10-17 and the North Channel (southbound) Bridge are reduced by three feet (with the main channel span reduced from 75 feet to 72 feet above mean high water) through October 15, 2012. Mariners should use caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 33)
Navy Inert Mine Field, off VA Beach:
The U.S. Navy has established a temporary target inert mine field within the following coordinates:
Deep Field Area: 4500 yd x 5600 yd, 77nms at east from Virginia Beach, VA., water depth approximately 300-650 ft.
A. 36 47.42 N , 074 39.47 W.
B. 36 47.42 N, 074 42.26 W.
C. 36 44.55 N, 074 42.26 W.
D. 36 44.55 N, 074 39.47 W.
The targets are scheduled for recovery 03-21 December, 2012. (5th District LNM 36)
James River Lift Bridge Restrictions:
James River – US Route 17 (vertical-lift) Bridge (37.002651°-76.468869°)- To facilitate removing and replacing the lift span grid deck, a two-hour advance notification will be required for vessel openings from 2100 on Fridays to 0500 on Mondays for the following dates: 14 – 17 SEP 12; 21 – 24 SEP 12; 28 SEP – 1 OCT 12; 5 -8 OCT 12; 12 – 15 OCT 12; 19 – 22 OCT 12; 26 – 29 OCT 12; 2 – 5 NOV 12; 9 – 12 NOV 12; 16 – 19 NOV 12; 30 NOV – 3 DEC 12; and 7 – 10 DEC 12. Berkley Bridge Schedule Final:
Effective October 6, 2012, the Coast Guard is modifying the operating schedule that governs the Berkley (I-264) Bridge (36.841579° -76.286185°), at mile 0.4, across the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River, Norfolk, VA. The current temporary regulation for the Berkley Bridge is scheduled to end on October 5, 2012. This regulation will impose the provisions of the temporary regulation as permanent. This permanent change to the regulation is necessary to alleviate heavy vehicular traffic delays throughout the day and secondary congestion during the afternoon rush hour, while still providing for the reasonable needs of navigation. The draw of the bridge will continue to open on signal to vessels between the hours at 9-9:30 a.m., 11-11:30 a.m., 1-1:30 p.m. and 2:30-2:50 p.m., Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays. A copy of Public Notice 5-1280 and interim rule, Docket #USCG-2012-0357, which describes the proposal in detail, was published in the Federal Register on August 30, 2012. Steel Bridge Cable Crossing Ops:
Crofton Diving Corp. will be conducting cable crossing repair operations for Dominion Power on the west of the Dominion Blvd. (Rt. 17) Steel Bridge (36.735991° -76.294895°) from 10 September until approximately 31 September, 2012. The work will involve cable laying, diving operations and general construction. Barges and assisting vessels will be on scene and monitoring VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. It is requested all vessels transit at a NO WAKE speed and remain clear of the barges. (5th District LNM 37)
Oregon Inlet Channel Shoaling:
Shoaling to a depth of less than 5.0 feet MLW has been reported between Oregon Inlet Channel Lighted Buoy 19 (LLNR 28065) (35-46-16.707N, 075-32-21.583W) and Oregon Inlet Channel Lighted Buoy 21 (LLNR 28067) and extending into the channel. (5th District LNM 36)
Bonner Bridge Work:
Mariners are advised that work will commence for bridge scour protection measures at the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge (35.771117° -75.536274°) across Oregon Inlet, at mile 0.9 in Dare County, NC. An anchored, lighted construction barge will be installing rock filled wire baskets and sand bags on the inlet bottom between bridge bents 158-162 on the east and west side of the bridge from September 17, 2012 through December 1, 2012 outside the navigable channel. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. (5th District LNM 37)
Hatteras Inlet Channel Shoaling:
Shoaling to a depth of less than 3.0 feet MLW has been reported between Hatteras Inlet Channel Lighted Buoy 9 (LLNR 28724) (35-11-57.228N, 075-45-03.417W) and Hatteras Inlet Channel Lighted Buoy 10B (LLNR 28726.2) . Shoaling extends to the center line of the channel restricting the width of the channel. (5th District LNM 36)
Ocracoke Entrance Channel Dredging:
Cottrell Contracting Corporation of Chesapeake, Virginia advises that the Dredged RICHMOND will be conducting dredging operations in Pamlico Sound, Big Foot Slough Channel between Big Foot Slough Channel Light 14BF (LLNR 29087) (35-09-30.268N, 076-00-50.843W) and Big Foot Slough Buoy 9AA (LLNR 29057) near Ocracoke and the entrance channel to Silver Lake Harbor in the vicinity of markers 6, 7, 9. The dredging operations will begin in September and expected completion dates of October 10, 2012. (5th District LNM 36)
Shoaling AICW North of Surf City:
Shoaling to a depth of 3.0 feet MLW has been reported between New River - Cape Fear River Daybeacon 45 (LLNR 39415) (34-28-18.829N, 077-29-58.987W) and New River - Cape Fear River Daybeacon 47 (LLNR 39420). Shoaling is encroaching into the available channel width. (5th District LNM 37)
NC AICW Bridge Work:
BRIDGE FENDER REPAIRS WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 UNTIL DECEMBER 12, 2012 ON THE NC 210 FIXED BRIDGE (34.498307° -77.429678°) AT MILE 253.3 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY IN NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA.
BRIDGE REHABILIATATION WILL BE IN PROGRESS FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 UNTIL MAY 1, 2013 ON THE US 74/76 BASCULE BRIDGE (34.216103° -77.812750°) AT MILE 283.1 ON THE ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY IN WRIGHTVILLE BEACH, NORTH CAROLINA.

For all of the above:
TO FACILITATE REPAIRS A CRANE BARGE WILL REDUCE THE AVAILABLE HORIZONTAL CLEARANCE IN THE NAVIGABLE CHANNEL FROM 90 FEET TO 50 FEET. A ONE HOUR ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE THE BARGE FROM THE CHANNEL FOR VESSELS REQUIRING GREATER THAN 50 FEET HORIZONTAL CLEARANCE TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THROUGH THE BRIDGE. THE WORK SUPERVISOR CAN BE CONTACTED ON VHF-FM CHANNELS 13 OR 16 TO ARRANGE REMOVAL OF THE BARGE FROM THE CHANNEL.

Coastal Waters from Little River, South Carolina to Panama City, Florida
Charleston Area Dredging Update:
Southern Dredging Co. will commence dredging operations on or about August 20, 2012 in Cooper River, South Carolina in Charleston County, between Cooper River Lighted Buoy 46 (LLNR 2740) (32-49-09.042N, 079-55-28.953W) and Cooper River Lighted Buoy 62 (LLNR 2930). The dredge “CHEROKEE” will monitor VHF channels 13 or 16. Dredge operations will be conducted 24-hours per day, 7-days per week basis with an approximate completion date of February 2013. Surveying Ops in Kings Bay:
Ocean Surveys Inc will commence surveying operations on or about September 17, 2012 in the Cumberland Sound, Kings Bay (30.791223° -81.496719°), Georgia area. The Research Vessel CANDU will monitor VHF channel 13. Other work boats will be a 36ft x 16ft Aluminum Pontoon Barge with a 15ft A-frame mast with a pneumatic coring rig. Operations will be during daylight hours only, 7 days per week with an approximate completion date of October 1, 2012. The Project POC is Mr. Jason Delorenzo (860) 575-0653. Mariners are advised to transit the area with caution. (7th District LNM 36)
St. Augustine Inlet AICW Dredging:
Southwind Construction Corp, will commence dredging operations in the Intracoastal Waterway, Cuts SJ-28, SJ-28A, SJ-29 & SJ-29A St. Augustine (29.908334° -81.297419°), St. Johns County, Florida on August 24, 2012. The dredge WILKO and workboats: Miss Leanne and Proud Mary will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 & 16 working channel 78. Operations will be 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The approximate completion date is November 1, 2012. Land POC’s Mr. David Lynn (Foreman) Cell: 812-455-1770 and Mr. Richard Lassen (CQC Manager) Cell: 812-480-1740. There will be submerged and floating pipeline associated with dredging operation; use extreme caution in the area. Mariners are urged to transit at the slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted and marked according to Coast Guard regulations. Submerged pipeline will be positioned in the vicinity of St. Augustine, Inlet traversing southerly along Salt Run to the designated beach fill placement site immediately adjacent to Anastasia State Park. Okeechobee Waterway Update:
On September 12, 2012 at 2400 hours the lake level was reported at 14.87 feet and the navigational depths were reported at 8.81 feet for Route 1 (26°58'32.23"N, 80°38'22.92"W) and 7.01 feet for Route 2 (Rim Route) (26°47'0.61"N, 26°47'0.61"N). Drought restrictions are no longer in effect for the Okeechobee Waterway.

Lake Worth Entrance Lights Change:
The following changes have been made to Lake Worth Entrance Range Front Light (LLNR 10185) (26-46-21.497N, 080-02-30.958W) and Lake Worth Entrance Range Rear Light (LLNR 10190) changing the color from white to green.
Lake Worth Entrance RFL (LLNR 10185) has been changed to Fl G 2.5s.
Lake Worth Entrance RRL (LLNR 10190) has been changed to Iso G 6s. (7th District LNM 36)
FL Keys Light Hazard:
Shell Key Light 90 (LLNR 12330) (24-56-23.524N, 080-40-03.754W) is destroyed with wreckage remaining 2ft above the waterline. The wreckage is marked with a TRLB with Fl Q R characteristics. Mariners are advised to transit the area with extreme caution. (7th District LNM 36)
Major Florida Keys Light Extinguished:
Rebecca Shoal Light (LLNR 1090) (24-34-44.484N, 082-35-06.776W) is extinguished and the structure is unsafe. Due to mitigating circumstances the aid will not be temporarily relit. The area surrounding the Light is considered a hazard to navigation. Mariners are advised to avoid the area. (7th District LNM 34)

Amelia River RR Swing Bridge (AICW Mile 721.1): DB Marine Construction has started repairs to the Amelia River Swingbridge (30.628700° -81.484451°) fender system across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 721.1, Fernandina Beach, Florida. The contractor will have a small work platform in the waterway which may restrict 20 ft of the channel. Vessels requiring a full channel opening should contact the on-scene tug or VHF-FM channel 13 or 16 one hour in advance to allow time to remove the platform from the channel. Mariners are requested to maintain minimum wake/slow speed through the area for the safety of the workers. This work is anticipated to be completed by November 30, 2012. Additional channel restrictions/closures will be published in future Local Notice to Mariners.
Amelia River SR A1A Bridge (AICW Mile 721) Update: The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR A1A Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 721.0 (30.626304°-81.484527°), Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida, from April 9, 2012 through March 15, 2013.
SR 312 Bridge (AICW Mile 780.0): Update: Astor General Contracting has advised this office that they will start painting the East Bound SR 312 Bridge (29.862672° -81.309784°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 780.0, Lake City (this bridge is in St. Augustine), St John’s County, Florida.
The Coast Guard Bridge Branch has approved a vertical clearance reduction of four foot reducing the vertical clearance to 61 feet for one half of the navigable channel at the SR 312 Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 780.0, Lake City (St. Augustine), St John’s County, Florida, through August, 2013.
L. B. Knox Bridge (AICW Mile 816): Cline Construction has advise the Coast Guard that they anticipate starting work on the fender system replacement of the Highbridge Road (Leonard B. Knox) Bridge (29.407923° -81.101143°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 816, Volusia County, Florida on August 22, 2012. This work will consist of floating equipment in the waterway reducing the horizontal clearance to 46 feet between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and possibly a Saturday. The floating equipment can be moved from the channel with a one hour notice to the on-scene tug on VHF-FM channel 13 or 16 for vessels requiring more than 46 feet of horizontal clearance. This work is expected to be completed by November 30, 2012.
Broad Causeway Bridge (AICW Mile 1081.4): Seacoast Incorporated working for the Town of Bay Harbor will be rehabilitating the Broad Causeway (125th Street) Bridge (25.887207° -80.142448°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1081.4, Bay Harbor Islands, Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Coast Guard has approved single-leaf operations with a three hour notice for a double-leaf opening at this location from September 17, 2012 through January 15, 2013. This work will be accomplished during daylight hours Monday through Friday; but the contractor has indicated that they may be working a few weekends.
Port of Miami Railroad Bridge: Due to extensive repairs to the Port of Miami Railroad Bridge (25.778902° -80.182536°) across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Miami-Dade County, Florida, the bridge contractor, PCL Constructors Inc are beginning repair operations on the Port of Miami's FEC railroad bridge. The bridge is allowed to be in the down position when the Security Zone is not enforced and the Miami Main Channel is open for normal traffic. On days when the bridge is in the down position there will be 15 minute openings at 11:45 am, 1:45 pm, and 3:45pm. Upcoming bridge closings are published below. Clearance gauges are also under repair and do not currently read properly. PCL will be monitoring Marine Channel 9. PCL POC - Adlai Jourdin (561) 253-6995.

If for any reason the Miami Main Channel Security Zone is in force during these dates, the bridge will not be allowed to remain closed. This work is expected to be completed in January 2013.
SUNRAIL RAILROAD BRIDGE: Due to repairs to the Sunrail Railroad Bridge (28.837779° -81.324670°), Lake Monroe, Sanford, Florida the contractor will be restricting the channel under this bridge from September 23 through September 27, 2012 with alternative dates of October 2 through October 5, 2012. Due to nature of these repairs the waterway under the Sunrail Railroad Bridge will be allowed to remain closed to navigation from September 28 through October 1, 2012. The Coast Guard has approved this closure period for the safety of the workers and potential hazards to navigation.
