Star Clipper - Treasure Islands - Day Five

Wednesday – Virgin Gorda

After a good night’s sleep, we got up in time for breakfast and afterwards we went topside to enjoy the sail into Virgin Gorda. The crew worked hard taking care of all the sails!

Our Excursion for the day was seeing Virgin Gorda via ATVs.  By the time we signed up, all the ATVs were taken except one, so we shared an ATV.  There were a total of 7 of us from the Star Clipper. We took the launch to the beach where we got a ride to the place where they had the ATVs.  They gave us each a helmet and showed us how to use them.  The ATVs were already set up in a line and we followed our guide on the unpaved, rocky roads and up and down the steep hills of Virgin Gorda. The ATVs were a great way to see the island and stop to check out the great views!

Originally, the schedule had us having lunch on the beach but the weather didn't cooperate. It was too windy to bring everything to the beach, so we had it on board the ship. We decided to stay on the island, do some geocaching and then have lunch at Corsairs.

This was our best day for geoaching! While on the ATVs we were right on the spot where a cache was suppose to be, but we couldn't hold everyone up long enough to find it. So once we were done with the tour, we rented a taxi since we didn't have enough time to walk to both of them. The first one was by the beach that we were suppose to have lunch at. Todd found this one. It was stuck in the bushes pretty good.

The second one was on top of the tallest hill on the island and straight up from the beach.

The view was great, but thank goodness we took a cab to get there!

I found this one.

Back on the ship, the entertainment, as we set sail for our next island was one of the Ship's cooks carving the table settings out of all different types of fruit.

At 1630hrs, we held a BoatUS reception for the 19 people who booked their reservations via the BoatUS Travel Agency.

We had lots of snacks and anything we wanted to drink.

Then we searched for a good place to take a group photo of everyone.

We used the main stairway to the dinning room. It was a tight fit, but I really didn't have the right lighting to get everyone in the back rows, but we had fun taking the photo.

The next day we met an other couple who were also BoatUS Members, but we didn't know it. They missed a good party!
