OK, I admit I am a rookie blogger

Ok, I admit I am a rookie blogger. This is my first shot and many of you know that first impressions are everything! Here goes… but, if this ‘go around’ stinks please keep coming back, BoatUS ANGLER is a solid company and this is a good gig!

I have spent my time over the Holiday’s mentally preparing for my first tourney in 2011, the B.A.S.S. Southern Open at Lake Toho. For some crazy reason, I feel like this my first big derby. I know, I know, I have fished lots of B.A.S.S., PAA and FLW events over my 7 years of professional fishing, but this one is different. Here’s why. I moved from Fairfax, Virginia in 2008 to launch a guide service here at Lake Amistad in Del Rio, Texas. I did this for a few reasons. I was tired of city living, the B.A.S.S. Elite Series was eating me up financially (I stepped away after the 2008 season), and I still wanted to make a living fishing! I chose this path because of the ‘Bass Fishing Guide Tradition’, as many guides that have become full-time tournament pros are some of the best and most established fisherman in our industry: Larry Nixon, Mark Davis, Denny Brauer, Harold Allen, just to name a few. I became a full-time guide so I could teach and continue to engross myself in the fishing industry. I figured this path was going to allow me to re-establish myself as a formidable tournament angler that would kick butt. After all, when you are on the water over 200 days a year it is easier to stay in-tune, right?

Tournament fishing is just like the pressure I have every day to provide an exceptional fishing experience for my guide clients. They trust I will provide them with fishing knowledge and hopefully memories to last a lifetime and I need to produce, day in and day out.

So the time is here to show the angling community that I have continued to grow as a professional angler and I strive to keep up the ‘Bass Fishing Guide Tradition’ of great tournament anglers. I am looking forward to making waves this year in the tournament world. It all starts Jan. 20-22 at Lake Toho.
Hope to see you there!

Keep it up Kurt. Let me know when you're back in Florida and maybe we can rip some lips!
