My Royal Clipper Experience Windward Islands- Day 2 December 14, 2008-St. Lucia

Today we are moored in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.  We woke up and enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet.  At 10:00 a.m. we had a life boat drill.  Afterward we got our snorkel gear and prepared for the excursion we had signed up for.  Our excursion was horseback riding at the International Pony Club.  We rode across the island and on the beach.  At one point, the saddles were removed from the horse and we went swimming with the horses.  This was an incredible experience.  During this excursion we met Marife and Steve who are BoatU.S. members.  After returning from the excursion, we stopped at the marina which was hosting “The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers” (ARC) and walked the docks admiring the vessels participating in this event.  We stopped by a local restaurant and sat outside enjoying the view.

Upon return to the ship, I went looking for the Hotel Manager, Francesco, but was unsuccessful.  The ship receptionist advised me I should talk to Manolito, who would be arranging everything.  After discussing the options with Manolito we decided to have the BoatU.S. cocktail party Tuesday because Wednesday the ship stayed in port until midnight.  Manolito told me he had done this before and would arrange everything.  I completed the invitation and delivered some of them and Manolito took care of the rest.

That evening we had a dinner with the Cruise Director and Hotel Manager.  The food was incredible.  Afterward, we went to the Tropical Bar where we met several other members who had booked their trip through BoatUS Travel.  We had a great time watching the fashion show, which was put on by the crew with passenger participation.
