Hurricane Ike - I get to spend time with the BoatUS CAT Team!

Many years ago, too many years ago, I put my self through college as a photographer for a small upstate
I’ve been lucky that during my past 17 years at BoatUS I have been able to use my photography on a regular basis. First it was when I was in the Towing Division photographing the new TowBoatUS boats as they spread across the country.
And there have been other opportunities through the years, but none that come close to the opportunity of spending three days with the BoatUS Hurricane Catastrophe (CAT) Team. Ever since I first heard about the BoatUS CAT team, I’ve wanted to be a part of the team doing what ever I could do to help, but deep down inside the photo journalist in me has always wanted to photograph and document the devastation of what a Hurricane can do to boats and marinas.
After all these years, due to the wonders of the internet, Hurricane Ike gave me my opportunity. Sure, there’s a lot on television and in the news about Hurricane Ike and the devastation Texans are dealing with, but I can show the world what boaters are experiencing with the help of a BoatUS journalist , a dozen or so CAT Team members, my digital camera and video camera.
So stay tuned as I show you what I saw and introduce you to some of the smartest and hardest working people in boating, the BoatUS CAT Team.
