Tania Abei and her sonsOne Mom, Two Teens, No Exit

Read the compelling story of former around-the-world solo sailor and record holder, Tania Aebi, and her wish to give her two boys a worldview and a sense of responsibility by taking them on a year-long sail to the South Pacific. Not only was the story compelling to BoatUS members but it was recognized this year by Boating Writers International (BWI) where it was one of two stories from BoatUS Magazine to win a first place award in the Annual Writing Contest. '10 Sailing Convention a Hit With Women

Women's Sailing Convention

Corona del Mar, California, February 6 - The premier West Coast sailing seminar for women was another huge success this year, despite some strong winds and a bit of morning rain. Over 200 women took part and enthusiastically soaked up new skills in more than 20 different workshops, on and off the water. The primary sponsor was once again BoatU.S., the event was organized by Gail Hine and the Southern California Yachting Association and the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club graciously provided top-notch facilities.

Favorite classes were once again "Suddenly Singlehanded","Basic Nav 101" and a new offering, "Nighttime Sailing and Navigation". All of the workshops are presented by top women sailors from all over Southern California, many of them U.S. Coast Guard-licensed operators. Click here to read more...
