PERCY PRIEST LAKE, Tenn., April 21, 2011 – Capt. Shane O’Neal knows how to get boaters, sailors and anglers safely home after they’ve had trouble on the water. His five TowBoatUS towing companies on the Tennessee River chain of lakes have helped boaters and anglers who have run out of gas, run aground, or broke down since 2008. Now O’Neal is expanding again, with a new, sixth location on Tennessee’s Percy Priest Lake, just one month after opening his fifth location on Watts Bar Lake.

O’Neal’s TowBoatUS towing services got its start on Chickamauga Lake. It is now the fastest growing boat towing company in the BoatUS Towing Services fleet, which has over 600 towboats servicing hundreds of ports and waterways coast to coast.

So what’s driving all the growth?

“It’s the convenience and peace of mind knowing that for one low annual fee of $58 a year, we will come get you anytime day or night,” said Capt O’Neal, “And you won’t be charged a dime out of pocket.”

Much like an auto club for boaters, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers an “Unlimited” on-the-water towing service plan for freshwaters that cost just $34 a year plus an additional $24 for BoatUS or BoatUS Angler membership ($58 total annually). Without a towing plan, boaters face costs that nationally average about $600 per incident.

“Things happen,” added O’Neal. “You run out of gas, your battery is weak, you hit a stump or you think you can get back to the launch ramp on the trolling motor alone. Calling a friend to come out and get you at any hour of the day isn’t so simple anymore.”

In addition to Percy Priest and Watts Bar Lakes, O’Neal’s operations include locations in Scottsboro and Rogersville Alabama and on Tennessee’s Nickajack and Chicamauga lakes. To see the new location on a map, go to www.BoatUS.com/percypriestlake.

O’Neal and all of his boat captains are USCG-licensed and all six locations have response vessels fully rigged for marine towing and salvage work and ready to go at a moment’s notice, including extra fuel, engine fluids, pumps, dive gear and battery "jump packs" to handle dead batteries. They can be identified by their distinctive red hulls, white bow stripes and "TowBoatUS" lettering along their sides.

Recreational boaters, sailors and anglers can call any of O’Neal’s locations 24-hours a day at 423-326-9768, through the BoatUS toll-free Dispatch Service at 800-391-4869, or by hailing on VHF radio channel 16.

The towing program is just one service offered by BoatUS - Boat Owners Association of The United States - the nation's leading advocate for recreational boaters providing its half-million members with government representation, consumer programs and money-saving services.
