Annapolis, Md., February 16, 2010 – The BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water has a great way for your local nonprofit boating organization to help keep our waterways safe and clean — but time is running out. The Foundation’s Grassroots Grant program offers individual grants of up to $4,000 for boating safety and clean water projects. However, to have a chance at funding, organizations need to apply by the February 28th deadline. A total of $50,000 is available for this year.

In the last 22 years, the Foundation has awarded over $1 million to organizations that have developed creative projects to promote safe and clean boating on their local waterways. Some of the past projects include producing movie theatre public service announcements, flying a blimp with safety messages above popular boating spots, producing radio public service announcements and installing signs at boat ramps highlighting the threat of invasive species.
