ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7, 2009 –- BoatUS Magazine has received a 2009 APEX Award, in the category of “Most Improved Magazines and Journals.” APEX 2009 -- the 21st Annual Awards for Publication Excellence -- is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures and Web sites.  Over 4,000 entries were received.

According to the APEX 2009 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness."

Under the guidance of Consulting Editor Bernadette Bernon and Creative Director Carla Shamblen, BoatUS Magazine underwent a significant redesign which was unveiled in the January 2009 issue.
