Whether one is new to sailing, looking to sharpen spinnaker sets or just be part of an invigorating event, the fifth annual Women’s Sailing Conference has something for everyone as the event returns to Corinthian Yacht Club in scenic Marblehead, MA, on Saturday, June 3.

The all-day event of land and on-the-water workshops is sponsored by BoatU.S. and organized by the National Women’s Sailing Association. New topics covered in workshops this year are splicing, anchoring, fitness afloat and suddenly single-handed. Returning favorites include diesel engine maintenance, winch wizard, sail trim, crew overboard, charting basics and more. The day at the Corinthian Yacht Club includes continental breakfast, box lunch, numerous handouts, and a gala dinner with a guest speaker. This year’s speaker is ocean racer and cardiac surgical nurse Moe Roddy, founder of Red Dress Racing Campaign, a group she formed to educate women about heart disease and inspire and educate them to take control of their lives and their health.

"No matter what their level of boating skill, women leave this conference with more knowledge, improved skills and invaluable confidence," said Elaine Dickinson, who heads up the BoatU.S. Women in Boating outreach effort. "In a relaxed, no-pressure setting it's easier for women to learn and have fun at the same time. The camaraderie is great.”
