Marinas, Yacht Clubs, Boat Yards Invited to Hurricane Preparation Symposium March 1-2, 2007
Learn What Works
Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) in conjunction with The Marine Industries Association of Florida (MIAF) and The Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) is holding the definitive Marina Hurricane Preparation Symposium on March 1-2, 2007 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL. The interactive conference will help any public or private boating facility minimize their chances of hurricane storm damage. Participants will learn successful storm preparation tactics from other marina operators, exchange ideas, hear how to "harden" their facility and develop a written hurricane plan. Also on display will be state-of-the-art storm-preparation products from a variety of vendors.
“The levels of devastation we've seen in the past few hurricane seasons can't be repeated,” said BoatU.S. Vice President of Government Affairs Margaret Podlich. “We saw a real need to gather owners of marine facilities together; the future of boating in many areas depends on all of us in the marine industry working together to find solutions.”
Marina and boat club operators will also learn what they can legally do to prepare boats in their facility under new Florida law, effective July 2006. "It's important to know what measures can be taken — by whom and with what liability — well before the storm hits," said Podlich.
Registration for the day and a half conference is $150 until February 1, and $200 thereafter. It includes lunch, a reception and all conference materials. Discounts are available for additional staff from the same facility.
