ALEXANDRIA, VA, September 2, 2015 – As the 2015 summer boating season draws to a close, the BoatUS Cooperating Marina Program reported over 800 marinas participating this year. Launched in 1995 and designed as a way for marinas to build incremental sales and at the same time provide valuable benefits to Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) members, the program offers preferential discounts to the largest group of recreational boat owners in the country.
To participate, marina operators select the discount they want to offer BoatUS members – popular offerings include up to 10 cents off per gallon of fuel, 15% off repairs, or 25% off transient slips. Other discounts may be offered by a ship’s store or marina restaurant.
There is no other cost to the marina, and in exchange of offering a discount, BoatUS aggressively markets the program to its over half a million members, including exposure in regional and national boating and fishing publications, cruising guides as well as BoatUS Magazine, the most widely read boating publication. BoatUS supplies free promotional materials such as signs, decals and flags, and will also award marinas up to $250 per year for advertising in the local area – simply for including the BoatUS Member Discounts logo in their advertising. Additionally, participating marinas have a custom web page at BoatUS.com/map and on the BoatUS Towing App.
“Our BoatUS members are very loyal, and our program gives our Cooperating Marina partners a way to tap that allegiance,” said BoatUS’ Bryan Dove. “The amount and product or service the marina offers is intended to encourage BoatUS members to select your facility.”
Additionally, if marinas choose to sell $24 BoatUS annual memberships at the counter they also earn $10 per membership.

About Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS):
BoatUS is the nation’s largest organization of recreational boaters with over a half million members. We are the boat owners’ voice on Capitol Hill and fight for their rights. We help ensure a roadside breakdown doesn’t end a boating or fishing trip before it begins, and on the water, we bring boaters safely back to the launch ramp or dock when their boat won’t, day or night. The BoatUS Insurance Program gives boat owners the specialized coverage and superior service they need, and we help keep boaters safe and our waters clean with assistance from the non-profit BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water.
