Leadership in Clean Boating Outreach Award

Each year the BoatU.S. Foundation selects local nonprofit organizations to promote clean boating education through our grant program. We are always looking for the most innovative and effective ways to reach people with this message.

As a 2004 Clean Water Grant Recipient, your organization is eligible for the 2005 Leadership in Clean Boating Outreach Award which has a cash award of $500. You will be automatically eligible by completing your grant project and providing the grant administrator with your final report by May 30, 2005.

A committee, made up of staff from the BoatU.S. Foundation, will serve as judges for this national award. Your final report must contain a summary of the project, photos, any sample items, and receipts accounting for the funding provided. The committee will further evaluate projects based on the following characteristics:

  • New and innovative ways to educate.
  • Resourceful and efficient use of grant funds.
  • Quality and professionalism of work.
  • Use of positive Do messages rather than relying on negative Don’t messages.
  • The organization's flexibility and effectiveness in ability to carry out the project in a prompt manner.

The grant recipient that is chosen by the committee for the Leadership in Boating Safety Outreach Award will receive the following benefits:

  • An additional $500 will be given to the organization to supplement the goals of the project.
  • A press release to be distributed in their local area recognizing them as the recipient of that year’s Leadership in Boating Safety Outreach Award.
  • A national press release that will incorporate the winner of the 2005 Leadership in Clean Boating Outreach Award with the announcement of the 2005 Clean Water Grant recipients.
  • Recognition of their work on the BoatU.S. Foundation Website.

This is an exciting new aspect of our grant program. We look forward to receiving your final report!

If you have any questions regarding this program, please email the Grant Administrator, or call (410) 897-0514.
