BULL SHOALS LAKE, Ark., May 16, 2013 -- BoatUS ANGLER member Jason Christie had an April full of tournament success that was more like a dream than reality. In back-to-back weeks, the former college basketball player won two professional tournaments.
May 14, 2013 - If the 2013 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship merely matched the enthusiasm and success of the 2012 event, it would still be the greatest collegiate bass fishing event around. On the other hand, every indication is that this month's event will exceed last year's huge success, and that's cause for celebration.
May 8, 2013, FLORIDA - Scientists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) have uncovered a new species of black bass in the southeastern United States. Scientists have proposed naming the new species the Choctaw bass and recommended the scientific name of Micropterus haiaka.

BIRMINGHAM, AL, April 30, 2013. - The second annual list ranking the country's best bass lakes has been released by Bassmaster Magazine. The list appears in the May issue, which hits newsstands today. Michigan's Lake St. Clair took the No. 1 spot, while Falcon Lake, which was last year's No.1, fell to seventh.
The 2013 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Cabela’s kicks off in Florence, AL May 20-24 for the nation’s largest collegiate fishing event. Some of the biggest names in bass fishing will join hundreds of students in celebrating this prestigious annual event. OKLAHOMA, MARCH 15, 2013 - There must be something in the water of Cedar Lake in southeast Oklahoma, because it produced the second state record bass in just under a year. If a team is unable to supply their own boat after indicating they will do so at the time of entry, the team will lose its top entry priority.

Some insurance programs like BoatUS will arrange and pay to have their insured's boats salvaged and other insurers will at least provide some assistance, but those without insurance don't have anyone to lean on. With a high personal property tax on registered vessels, many boaters risk breaking the law to keep their boats in neighboring states. October 15, Guntersville, AL - Anglers participating in the 2012 Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) Lady Bass Classic were again faced yesteday with changing conditions and a changing bite. Even though the bite was off Fort Worth pro Cheryl Bowden made the best of those changing conditions and caught three Lake Guntersville bass weighing 7.99-pounds.

The California man who recently caught a yellowfin tuna weighing at least 420 pounds had set out on a mission. He wanted to catch a record-breaking fish and he did everything he could to get it. Guy Yocom, a businessman from Dana Point, is now awaiting official certification from the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) that would declare his tuna as a new world record.
BoatUS Foundation Online Boating Safety Course Approved by Texas Parks and Wildlife

September 25, 2012 - Miles Burghoff of Orlando, Fla., had a two-day total of 10 bass that weighed 36 pounds, 9 ounces to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division Super Tournament on the High Rock Lake Sunday. For his victory, Burghoff earned $4,604.

For months, Rodney Ply sat anxiously awaiting a life-changing decision from the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) that could make the Arkansas angler $1 million richer. May 31, 2012 - Recycled Fish, the non-profit organization of anglers living a "lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the water," has received a Grassroots Grant from the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety & Clean Water. The highly competitive, annual grant program is designed to help nonprofit groups, associations, organizations and other waterway users to help spread the message about safe and clean boating practices at the grass roots level.

Rejects Second Petition to Ban Lead in Fishing Tackle

February 16, 2012 - The EPA basically rejected this petition on the same grounds it rejected an earlier petition in November of 2010. Basically it said there was not enough unreasonable risk to waterfowl from lead tackle to warrant influence from which federal action is required to adequately protect against these risks.
LEWISVILLE, TX, February 11, 2012 - Veteran tournament angler Jerry Lee found himself in a bad spot on the second day of competition during the Bassmaster Central Open. He was out of water. Lee, age 71, of Kiefer, Oklahoma, wasn’t just out of productive fishing water. He was out of water deep enough to pilot his bass boat. The independent contractor was stuck on an ultra-shallow sand bar on the far north end of Lake Lewisville amid bone-chilling north winds.
